In my time in this class, I hope to learn about and practice with many different technological resources. In my first couple of weeks of the class, I have already accessed several new ones, such as this Blogger site and the Padlet Profiles that we are creating. In the future, I hope to work as a Speech Therapist in the school system, so I can already anticipate using Padlet as a way to organize resources that I find, use, or create. I also hope to learn more about how to use Excel as a way to organize and document data.
Throughout high school and college I didn't have a great amount of experience using technology. My high school and college both utilized Canvas as a primary means of organization for our classes, as well as Outlook as a way to communicate and email our teachers/professors. Other than using Word as a way to document and write essays and assignments, I don't use the other OneDrive applications much for school. I have had to make an occasional Canva presentation for a class or use PowerPoint for the presentation, but other than this, I would say that I don't have too many experiences using technology in the educational setting.
My existing Personal Learning Network would involve a mixture of social media, my prior teachers and educators, and my fellow students in my cohort. Due to the nature of my major, there is constantly evolving research that is released daily. So in order to keep up with the ever-changing field of Communication Science and Disorders, it is vital to talk to my professors and my peers to find out new information as well as looking online towards social media to see any of the broad changes or developments to the field. I personally love to read and I would love to learn more about reading development of children with speech and language impairments. This has lead me to work with a specific professor at our University who has already directed me newly emerging research articles that have continued to expand the field.
